Windward Board Shop

Chicago, Illinois

RENAMED

Still going, now under a new name. It now goes by The House Chicago (W82 / Windward 82).

What happened after

Snowboard/skate shop at 3317 N Clark St since 1982; rebranded post-Profit to Windward 82 / W82, now operating as The House Chicago.

What happened on the show

Windward Board Shop was a Chicago snowboard shop that, as the show framed it, went downhill after its owners tried to expand too fast. It was one of the specialty retail cases Marcus took on, a store with a loyal niche and a strong location undermined by overreach and thin operations. The episode's arc followed his standard approach to a struggling shop of this kind, reining in the overexpansion, refocusing the store on what actually sold, and tightening the retail fundamentals that aggressive growth had let slip. As with several of his specialty store investments, the underlying business had real roots in its community and its category, and the work was about disciplining an operation that had gotten ahead of itself rather than inventing something new from scratch.

After the cameras left

The shop lives on under a new banner. Windward Board Shop, a snowboard and skate store on North Clark Street operating since 1982, was rebranded after the show to Windward 82, and it now trades as The House Chicago. The phone number and the longtime Clark Street address still appear across directories, consistent with a continuous business under new branding rather than a closure. We confirmed the rename through the current operator's own listing, so we hold it at medium confidence. Renamed and operating as of 2026.
