What happened on the show
SJC was a custom drum company founded by brothers Mike and Scott, and it started slipping after the two fell out and Mike bought his brother out entirely. Marcus offered $400,000 for a third of the business, with another third going to manager Chris. He traced the trouble to a broken process, cluttered inventory and no tracking, and imposed what he called ten steps to success, clearing the floor and building proper workstations so each drum moved through in sequence. The custom kits were priced too high for the mass market, so he pushed a good, better, best structure and challenged the team to design an affordable kit for beginners. When they could not figure out how to cut costs, Marcus made the call to bring Scott back into the company. The brothers stumbled at first over their history but found a way to work together, and Scott's design instincts let them build a quality beginner kit at a fraction of the price, which they tested in a studio. Mike then pitched it to a national music retailer, whose buyers were won over by the local story and the band connections behind the brand.
After the cameras left
SJC Drums is very much alive. The custom drum manufacturer runs a live official site, complete with a virtual drum designer tool, and carries a Facebook following north of 300,000, out of its longtime Southbridge, Massachusetts base on Worcester Street. Reuniting the brothers turned out to be the fix that mattered, and the company has kept building drums well past the episode. Confirmed operating as of 2026, high confidence.
