What happened after
A same-named/similar company 'Pacific Hospitality Design' (phdesign.com, Commerce CA) was found, but it states it has been family-owned 'since 1979', which predates and does not obviously match the newer commercial-furniture company featured on The Profit -- treating the connection as unconfirmed rather than assuming a match.
What happened on the show
Pacific Hospitality built furniture aimed at the commercial market, holding contracts with big hotels, casinos, and coffee chains, and its story rhymed with an earlier Marcus investment, Grafton Furniture, another immigrant family business troubled by margins and manufacturing. Impressed by the owner's daughter Ana, Marcus proposed something unusual, that Pacific be co owned by him and Grafton, since the two companies complemented each other, Grafton in residential and Pacific in hospitality and retail. He emptied and redesigned the warehouse into a production line, with Ana impressing him with her own floor plan. He set Ana and Grafton's owner Steve to compete on a furniture package pitch, and correctly predicted the outcome, Steve's design was good but impractical, while Ana's blended with the concept. Rather than pick a winner, Marcus merged the two companies, moving Steve into management and elevating Ana to chief designer across his businesses, betting that combining Steve's management with Ana's design talent would strengthen the whole operation.
After the cameras left
We could not confirm the company's current status. A similarly named business, Pacific Hospitality Design in Commerce, California, turned up, but it describes itself as family owned since 1979, a date that falls before, and does not clearly line up with, the newer commercial furniture business the show profiled. Rather than assume the two are the same, we treat the connection as unconfirmed. Pacific Hospitality ships as unverifiable, and we recommend cross referencing the original episode's founder names before accepting the Commerce listing as its current form.
