What happened on the show
DiLascia was Patrick's screen printed t-shirt company, backed by his siblings Dan and Kelly, and it had seen early wins, including a partnership with a celebrity news outlet and several retail placements. Then one retailer went under, wiping out a third of the revenue, and with most of the printing screens sitting idle and more than $200,000 in negative equity, the company was effectively insolvent. Marcus structured a deal that would eventually hand Dan and Kelly each 10 percent. He found no process for product design and no sales records, so he introduced Patrick to a creative studio to sharpen his ideas and expand a women's line, and pushed him to close the unprofitable retail store. Patrick struggled with feedback during a focus group at a Courage.b store, one of Marcus's other investments, and later, when a box of printed shirts vanished in transit, Marcus saw his tendency to hide from problems. Even so, the trunk sale Patrick pitched to a major department store went well, and Marcus came away satisfied with his bet on him.
