What happened on the show
Blues Jean Bar was Lady's denim concept, inspired by her New Orleans roots, with stores in San Francisco, Chicago, and Dallas. Its hook was a jeans bar, where staff sized up a customer and picked the right pair without the shopper handling the product. When Marcus tried it, he found the process inefficient and the inventory thin, turning customers away. Lady's aggressive expansion had already forced her to close most of her stores down to the three profitable ones, and she had not visited even those in person since opening them. The two agreed on a $900,000 deal for Marcus to take half the company. He cleared out most of the useless inventory and set about rebuilding the chain with the Chicago location serving as his template, adding related high margin clothing and accessories to complement the jeans, and rebranding the whole thing as Denim & Soul. The relaunch went well, and Lady threw herself behind the new name and concept.
After the cameras left
The company continues under its new identity. Blues Jean Bar was rebranded to Denim & Soul, which now operates several locations across San Francisco, Santa Monica, San Jose, and beyond. The original Union Street address in San Francisco shows as closed in some directories, which is consistent with the rebrand rather than a shutdown, since the business carried on under the Denim & Soul name. Confirmed operating under the new brand as of 2026, high confidence.
