Skullduggery
Anaheim, California
It rebranded and carried on. It now goes by SD Toyz.
What happened after
Rebranded to SD Toyz; company continues at same Anaheim facility making educational toys.
What happened on the show
Skullduggery began life making fossil replicas and had become, under brothers Steven and Peter, a maker of ordinary toys running at a loss. Marcus offered to put in $1.1 million to clear the debt plus another $1 million in working capital for half the company. The brothers walked out and countered that he could have only 30 percent, and he agreed, but only if he controlled the finances. He was dismayed that the company did no market research at all, so he ran a focus group with kids and parents. The light up MaxTrax cars were a hit, the pricey AeroFlix baffled everyone, and parents judged the lineup not distinctive enough, which Steven took badly. Marcus cleared out dead inventory over their objections and pressed them to invest in more efficient molds, which they resisted. He built a creative lab and bought a 3D printer, but a promising NASCAR meeting collapsed when Steven and Peter flatly refused to work with them. When the brothers and their father tried to reopen the deal terms over his financial control, Marcus cut his losses and left.
After the cameras left
The company is still in business, under a new name. Skullduggery rebranded to SD Toyz and continues operating from the same Anaheim facility on East La Palma Avenue, still making educational and creative toys for kids. The rename reads as a clean continuation rather than a shutdown, same location, same product category, active web and social presence. So while the on air investment fell apart in acrimony, the underlying business absorbed the experience and kept going. Confirmed operating under the SD Toyz name as of 2026, high confidence.
