My Big Fat Greek Gyro

McMurray, Pennsylvania

RENAMED

Same spot, new identity after the show. It now goes by Parea Gyros.

What happened after

Restaurant now operates as Parea Gyros at a Canonsburg PA address near McMurray; 2025-2026 Yelp reviews confirm current operations.

What happened on the show

My Big Fat Greek Gyro was a family run Greek fast food franchise, and Marcus, himself raised by a Greek family, arrived excited only to be let down fast. The restaurants served outsourced frozen food and padded the menu with non Greek items like tater tots and hummus, the franchisees got no real support from owner Mike, and there was no consistency across locations. He offered $350,000 for 55 percent of the business. Using the failing Mt. Lebanon location as a model, he built a new concept, a fresh Greek food bar where customers could customize their own meals, rebranded as The Simple Greek. Despite some reservations, the staff embraced it, and the renovated restaurant reopened successfully. It was one of the show's more optimistic transformations, at least in the moment, taking a tired frozen food franchise and giving it a fresh casual identity that Marcus clearly believed could scale into something national.

After the cameras left

The restaurant is still serving, though the story splits in two. The concept Marcus built, The Simple Greek, expanded into a franchise that drew a wave of applicants, but it was not all smooth. In later check ins he clashed repeatedly with owner Mike over Mike's lack of engagement and the returns Marcus was not seeing. The specific McMurray area location tied to the original episode now operates as Parea Gyros at a Canonsburg, Pennsylvania address, takeout only, with 2025 and 2026 Yelp reviews confirming it is running. So the original storefront survives under a new name. Medium confidence open as of 2026.
