What happened on the show
Grafton Furniture was a third generation company started by Esteban, run by Steve, and being groomed for Steven, and it was doing well financially with high end custom pieces. Marcus's angle was expansion rather than rescue, broadening the customer base with non custom items. He offered $1.5 million for 45 percent and full authority over Steven's development in the company, having concluded that Steve was too reluctant to loosen his grip. He invested in modern equipment and a new warehouse, which Steve resisted, and he was frustrated by a rushed process that left many pieces with manufacturing flaws. To widen the clientele, he set the team a design challenge, four chairs built around the theme of the American Dream, inspired by Esteban's own immigrant success story and his care for a workforce that included many immigrants. Those chairs were successfully pitched to a national buyer, opening a new market for a company that had only ever made one off custom work.
After the cameras left
Grafton Furniture is still building. The custom furniture manufacturer, on Northwest 71st Street in Miami, lists current hours and contact information, and while reviews are mixed, there is no closure signal. Notably, the company's orbit widened after the show. A later episode paired Grafton with another furniture business Marcus invested in, folding the two into a combined West Coast and East Coast operation. The Miami shop itself remains active. Medium confidence open as of 2026.
