What happened on the show
Coopersburg Sports held a prestigious MLB license and made mini baseball bats, and its owner Scott had already pulled off one reinvention, turning his father's tool turning shop into a sports novelty maker. Now he was struggling to modernize again. The workshop had no logical flow and no real inventory tracking, and business was slipping. Marcus negotiated $630,000 for 30 percent plus a 3 percent royalty. A meeting with MLB delivered bad news, Coopersburg did not have the reach Scott claimed, and the number of stadiums carrying its products was shrinking. Scott was deeply reluctant to make anything but baseball bats, but Marcus convinced him to let his children lead a creative push. Using the same lathes they already owned, they developed a line of wooden goods, stools, branded kitchenware, and accessories, and successfully pitched several of the new products to a major outdoor retailer.
