What happened on the show
Extra mileage and thin sales on his new Los Angeles lobster truck had Peter Crest suspecting his drivers of joyriding. For this one Charles Stiles ran the sting from a mobile command center, tailing the truck while mystery diners Shelby and John ordered from the various drivers. As aired, two drivers run a stop sign, quit their post early, and run a soul-food side business in a part of town where the owner holds no permit, with a friend along for the ride. The confrontation, back at the command center, has Peter firing both, one arguing the sideline was really a promotion. Given the scripting claims that later dogged Mystery Diners, this rolling sting, novel format and all, is best framed as broadcast rather than as independently confirmed.
After the cameras left
After the episode, Roll'n Lobster is hard to pin down. Aggregator summaries described it as open with an address near Hermosa Beach, but no citable listing surfaced and the truck's own domain returned a dead page in our 2026 pass, so we hold it at last confirmed rather than assert a status on a summary alone. Food trucks are mobile and easy to lose track of years later, and Mystery Diners left no rescue to follow; the trail here simply runs cold.
