What happened on the show
Jorge Moreno, a Latin Grammy winner, ran a Cuban cafe inside a Miami Beach hotel and kept spotting familiar faces crashing the guests-only happy hour as liquor went missing. Charles Stiles sent mystery diners Tina and Jamie in as a waitress and a guest. As aired, a bellhop and a bartender had been stealing hotel room keys and selling them to tourists so non-guests could work the free guests-only happy hour, the bartender also ducking into empty rooms, eating on the job, and bringing his own friends in on stolen keys. The confrontation has Jorge publicly denouncing the pair and firing both. Because Mystery Diners was later accused of scripting its confrontations, this hotel-bar sting is best read as broadcast rather than as documented event.

Moreno's Cuba is still open, a going concern the episode never threatened. The Cuban restaurant inside the Riviera Hotel at 1850 Collins Avenue takes reservations and keeps regular hours, with a review dated to July 2026 in our pass. An established hotel restaurant that appeared on a crisis show simply kept serving, its survival the ordinary kind rather than a rescue. The stolen-key drama made an episode; it was never the measure of whether this room would last, and it has.
