What happened on the show
Madeleine Noa, the general manager of a historic Honolulu yacht club, was fielding complaints that non-members kept slipping into members-only events, driving some longtime members to cancel over it. Charles Stiles sent mystery diners Kylie and Jamie in as a hired dancer and a would-be gate-crasher. As aired, two of the waitstaff had been sneaking their own friends into private luaus, feeding them the members' food and drink and even stealing gift-shop clothes to disguise them, while a loyal waiter and a doorwoman kept turning genuine crashers away. The confrontation has Madeleine firing the two waiters, and Stiles closes with the loyal pair promoted. Because Mystery Diners was later accused of scripting its confrontations, this club-crashing sting is best read as broadcast rather than as documented event.

The Hawaii Yacht Club is still afloat, an institution the episode never threatened.
