What happened on the show

Justin ran The Runaway Girl in Sheffield on Spanish tapas, with his best friend Richie as head chef, in a room Ramsay thought looked more like a strip club than a restaurant. The kitchen did no prep before service because Justin had Richie pre-cook everything in advance to cut waste, and Justin put his energy and money into live music events that customers found loud and grating rather than into the food. Richie eventually erupted, laying into Justin's refusal to listen and threatening to quit unless things changed at once. Ramsay sent in a mystery diner, and despite Justin claiming to have spotted the ruse, the service fell apart, cutlery forgotten, and drew a scathing report. After helping the two friends patch things up, Ramsay refurbished the room, renamed it Silversmiths, banned the live music, and, judging that they could not out-tapas the local Spanish restaurants, switched the focus to modern British cooking.

This is a survivor, though with a gap in the middle. Trading as Silversmiths, the restaurant closed abruptly in August 2019, then reopened under new ownership, the Ascent Leisure Group, whose own site now shows live hours and bookings at 111 Arundel Street, the same Sheffield address as the original Kitchen Nightmares site. We hold this at medium confidence: the city paper documents the 2019 closure, and the reopening is backed by the current official site plus a 2024 reference to it still trading, but we could not trace the continuity between closure and reopening through an intermediate primary source. As of our latest pass, Silversmiths is operating.
