What happened on the show
Clubway 41 traded hard on a Blackpool Restaurant of the Year title, yet could barely fill its upstairs dining room. Dave Jackson ran it alongside his girlfriend Dawn Brindley, and the greasy-spoon cafe downstairs was quietly propping the whole thing up. Dave's cooking appalled Ramsay, salmon with strawberry, mash with nectarines, and he took criticism badly while showing little grip on running a kitchen. Digging into the award, Ramsay found that no locals had heard of the place and that the nomination reviews read as almost a joke. His gamble was to flip the model, making the downstairs cafe the main event with simple English food, and to rename the upstairs Jacksons. Service started well, capable cook Nigel Lloyd steadying things, but Dave kept struggling with the load. On the revisit the news was bad: a new bus stop out front was putting people off, Nigel had left, and the kitchen had drifted back to greasy-spoon fare, so Ramsay pushed the owners into heavy local promotion and ads on the buses.
After the cameras left
We could not confirm the business trading as Jacksons anywhere today, and no coverage places it as a going concern. A fish and chip shop, The Frying Squad, currently operates from a nearby Market Street address, but whether that is the very same unit is circumstantial rather than established. We flag this as low confidence: the regional outlet blocks direct access, and the commonly cited closure date appears only on a competitor tracker we will not treat as evidence, so we have left it out. As of our latest pass, the Blackpool site is best described as closed under this name, successor unconfirmed.
