What happened on the show

An owner's refusal to give up his punk-rock obsession, even when it kept the money away, forced Taffer into a hard call. At the Black Light District Rock and Roll Lounge in Long Beach, the owner clung to his identity over any profit-making change, and for the recon Taffer brought in a Vandals bassist alongside an actress and an NFL punter. The owner's complete resistance and his conviction that he knew better made this the third bar Taffer refused to help, after O'Face Bar and the Second Base re-rescue, and the first where cocktails went unserved because the owner would not allow them. The rescue collapsed on the owner's intransigence, a punk purist who would rather keep his obsession than save his business, and Taffer walked out.

The Black Light District closed in July 2018, though not for the reasons the walkout might suggest. The venue's own Facebook post states it shut down because the building owner sold the land, not because the business failed, which holds the closure at medium confidence on a primary source. Whatever the owner's punk obsession cost him during the rescue, the room's end came from a real-estate sale rather than an operational collapse, closing the book on one of the show's more defiant owners and its third refused rescue.
