What happened on the show
Los Gemelos started as an authentic Mexican restaurant run by Adelo and grew into tortilla production, until a major national brand broke into the regional market and business dropped. Referred by comedian George Lopez, Marcus was interested in the tortilla factory but shocked to find Adelo's operation out of compliance with food and workplace safety codes. So he proposed a different deal than usual, instructing Adelo to close the factory rather than invest in it, and instead building a new Hispanic food company that fused Marcus's business acumen with Adelo's grasp of real Mexican cooking and Lopez's public image and reach. Adelo initially struggled with the need for market research and had not disclosed his factory's eviction and lost equipment, but his salsa recipes impressed Marcus and Lopez, and the new brand took shape around one of Lopez's catchphrases. Marcus set up a pitch to a major warehouse retailer, fulfilling Adelo's dream of reaching a big chain, and Adelo sealed the deal on a promise of authenticity.

The restaurant and tortilleria is still going. Los Gemelos runs a live official site out of Port Chester, New York, and its own copy notes it supplies clients including a major ballpark and a well known events company. The business survived the competitive squeeze that first brought it to the show, and the operation Adelo built continues to trade and supply. Confirmed operating as of 2026, high confidence.
