What happened on the show

Alex Polizzi opened series 7 at the First In Last Out, a 17th-century bed and breakfast with a pub in Winchester, called in after a run of negative reviews. She refused outright to sleep there following a run-in with the shower room, which tells you the state of the place. Her core message to owner Jon Sweeney was that budget accommodation is no excuse for low quality, and much of the visit was a demonstration of the basics, above all cleaning. This was a case about standards rather than concept: an old pub with rooms that had let hygiene and upkeep slide to the point where guests were rightly complaining, and Polizzi's job was to reset the floor beneath the whole operation.

After the cameras left

The First In Last Out is open again, but its recent history is dramatic. The Winchester pub with rooms closed in January 2019 and stayed shut for roughly seven years before reopening in June 2026 under new licensee Katie Moldon, following a refurbishment reported at several hundred thousand pounds. So while the status today is open, that reflects a very recent reopening after a long closure, not continuous trading since Polizzi's 2011 visit. The show had returned for a 2013 revisit; the deeper story is a property that went dark for years before its latest revival.
