What happened on the show
In Dorset, Alex Polizzi's series 16 case was the Coach and Horses, run by James and Yvonne, who could not draw custom even though theirs was the village's only pub. That paradox framed the whole visit: a business with no local rival and yet empty tables, which pointed the finger at the property and its owners rather than the market. Polizzi was instantly taken aback by her first impressions of the Coach, its rooms and the couple running it. Her task was to work out why a village's sole watering hole could not fill itself, and to get a struggling operation back on track when demand should, by rights, have been all but guaranteed by its monopoly position. Broadcast in June 2021, it opened Polizzi's sixteenth series, one of several Dorset cases she took on over the years.
After the cameras left
The Coach and Horses is still trading, a village pub and bed and breakfast at South Perrott in Dorset, near Beaminster, with active listings on the major booking platforms as of 2026 and a top ranking among the handful of specialty-lodging options in the village. A December 2021 report noted a rejected planning application post-episode, suggesting ongoing difficulty, but current listings show it trading, so the open status is held at medium confidence. The only-pub-in-the-village that could not attract custom appears to have kept going despite the odd bump along the way.
