What happened on the show
Guest house owner Richard Nunns could not fathom why his customers kept leaving furious, and Ruth Watson did not take long to find the first culprit. Behind a genuinely handsome exterior, the interior let the place down badly, starting with unsightly anaglypta wallpaper that clashed with everything the frontage promised. The gap between kerb appeal and the reality once guests walked in was doing quiet damage to the reviews Nunns kept receiving. Watson's approach here, as across the Georgian property, was to close that gap: strip out the dated finishes, bring the inside up to the standard the outside implied, and give Nunns an honest external read on faults he had stopped being able to see for himself. It was a case less about crisis than about a proprietor blind to his own shortcomings.

Blossoms is still trading, now marketed as Blossoms York Guesthouse.
