What happened on the show
Brian and Gill Scott had done what a lot of people daydream about: retired to Newquay to spend their later years running a small seaside hotel together. Ruth Watson found the dream had curdled. The Cornish resort town's rowdy stag and hen trade had overrun the Scotts' modest hotel, wrecking rooms and turning a gentle retirement plan into a grind that suited neither the couple nor the guests they actually wanted. Watson's read was that the Scotts had let the wrong market define them, and her prescription pushed them to decide who the hotel was for and to stop absorbing custom that cost more in damage and stress than it earned. The property was judged worth a return visit, appearing again in series 3 in November 2007.
