What happened on the show
Valley Inn in Palos Hills, Illinois received a fourth season makeover, the show's usual forty eight hour rebuild funded on a purposely small makeover budget. No episode summary survives on Wikipedia, so the details of what Irvine changed are not invented to fill the gap. Valley Inn's story ran far longer than most, which makes its ending notable. A fire caused extensive damage and forced the restaurant to close, reported in a March 2026 local article with the blaze dated to roughly the previous July. The Valley Inn Catering arm kept operating separately from the same address, so the name survives even though the sit down restaurant does not. After more than a decade past its episode, the closure came from disaster rather than the slow business decline the show usually documents.
After the cameras left
Valley Inn outlasted almost all of its castmates before fire ended it. A March 2026 local report described the restaurant closing after a fire caused extensive damage, with the blaze dated to around July 2025. The associated catering arm, Valley Inn Catering, continues operating separately from a Roberts Road address, but the restaurant itself has not reopened. Local-news sourcing puts this at high confidence. A business that ran well over a decade past its episode was undone by a fire rather than by any failure the show came to fix.
