What happened on the show
The Ambush marked a first for season eleven and the series: rather than the owner knowing the show was coming, Robert Irvine ambushed Tornatore's Pizzeria in Orlando without advance notice. That surprise premise frames the visit. Within the standard two-day structure, Irvine tastes the pizza and menu, inspects the kitchen, and confronts an owner caught off guard by the intervention, before his design and build team reworks the College Park dining room and a reopening service follows. The ambush format is the firm, documented point, and the series thought enough of the outcome to revisit the business in a later season. The granular beats of the original taping did not survive citably, so we describe the setup and the format rather than reconstruct the visit shot by shot.
After the cameras left
Tornatore's has relocated rather than closed. In late 2024, after fifteen years in College Park, the owner shut that original location and moved the restaurant to Orlando's Thornton Park, teaming up with a pop-up room at 808 East Washington Street, a transition confirmed by direct load of the new site and corroborated by the Orlando Sentinel and Click Orlando, so this is a high-confidence call. The series' 2019 revisit is consistent with continued operation right up to the 2024 move, so Tornatore's counts as a relocation and a survivor rather than a casualty.
