episode title: "Chocolate: Impossible"

What happened after

Restaurant put on indefinite hold after the chef's disabling accident; separate chocolate boutique continues elsewhere.

What happened on the show

Cocoamoda, a chocolate focused restaurant in the small town of Calvert, Texas, got its eleventh season visit under the show's standard two day format, Irvine working the network's tight remodeling budget to sharpen a niche concept. The particular troubles Irvine found at Cocoamoda are not preserved in any Wikipedia synopsis, so this page leaves them unstated rather than invented. The ending was unusual and personal. The restaurant's own site reported that Chef Ken suffered an accident and resulting brain injury, which put the gourmet operation on indefinite hold, a health crisis rather than a business failure. The associated chocolate boutique continued separately at a different location under another banner. The Calvert restaurant itself, though, was shelved by circumstances no makeover could have anticipated, a rare cause of closure in the series.

After the cameras left

Cocoamoda's restaurant has closed, put on indefinite hold rather than reopened. The business's own official site explains that its chef suffered a disabling accident and resulting brain injury, which placed the gourmet restaurant on hold, and that first-party statement means this is a high-confidence call. The chocolate side continues separately, sold through a coffee house in Waco, but that is a different location and business line, not the Calvert restaurant. So the dining room is effectively closed, while the chocolate brand carries on in another form elsewhere.
