What happened on the show
Owner Cindy could not stop talking up the chicken at McShane's, and Irvine had to concede the half chicken genuinely impressed him, but that was about the only thing working in the East Syracuse restaurant. Nobody was coming in to eat it. He found both dining room and kitchen grimy, the decor tacky and overdue, and the rest of the food flat next to that one standout dish. Over two days he stripped back the menu, layered in a few of his own additions, and dragged the tired room into the present. The work fit the tight schedule and capped budget the show runs on. The lift did not hold: McShane's later closed, its owner pivoting to a food truck called The Chicken Bandit, and by 2022 the old address had become a pet grooming and daycare business.
After the cameras left
McShane's Restaurant and Pub closed in May 2013, a shutdown covered by the local Syracuse.com, which also reported owner Cindy's pivot to a food truck called The Chicken Bandit, keeping the dish that had impressed Irvine on the road. By 2022 the former space housed a pet-grooming and daycare business, per a search snippet, so a company called Pampered Pubs and Wiggle Butts Doggy Daycare and Grooming Salon now occupies the Kinne Street site. Local-news sourcing puts the closure at high confidence.
