What happened on the show

Five years in and on the brink, County Fare had swallowed owner Eric Green's life savings by the time Robert Irvine arrived in Stafford. What he found was grim across the board: a filthy restaurant, food he called nearly inedible, and decor that needed serious work. The staff lacked basic cooking skills, so part of the intervention was straightforward training alongside the creation of a signature dish to give the menu a spine. The design and build team took on the room while Irvine handled the food and the crew, the customary division of labor on a two-day rescue funded by around ten thousand dollars. For an owner who had bet everything, the visit offered a cleaner room, a trained kitchen, and a dish to build around, the standard package the show hands a business this far gone.

County Fare saw an initial post-show lift in sales, then a slide that a retrospective described as worse than anything the restaurant had experienced in years, and it closed around October 2011, only months after the episode.
