What happened on the show

A.J. Poppy Tusa had a kitchen at war at his New Orleans seafood restaurant, plus a bartending nephew who kept bringing wild animals to work. Charles Stiles sent mystery diners Nicole and Amber in as a waitress and a customer. As aired, the feud traces to a waitress, Felecia, playing a grill supervisor and a cook against each other while dating one and carrying on with the other, the tension spilling into constant kitchen fights, all while the nephew tries to impress a diner with a baby alligator. The confrontation has Poppy firing Felecia and the supervisor and suspending the cook and the nephew. Stiles closes with the room a little calmer. Because Mystery Diners was later accused of staging its confrontations, this love-triangle sting is best read as broadcast rather than as documented event.

After the cameras left

The Crazy Lobster closed, but as a real-estate change rather than a collapse. The riverside seafood restaurant at Spanish Plaza, 500 Port of New Orleans Place, shut in August 2018 and the space reopened as Briquette, per Eater New Orleans in our 2026 check. That is an ordinary handoff of a prime waterfront address, five years past the episode and unconnected to it. The room kept being a restaurant; it just stopped being this one, which is lifecycle, not fallout.
