What happened after
New American bistro at 1549 Sunset Dr closed; Yelp's closure banner plus Miami Herald coverage confirming owner Georges-Eric Farge closed the restaurant after 25 years running French restaurants in Miami.
What happened on the show
George Farge thought his staff had pushed the party atmosphere too far at his Coral Gables restaurant, with revenue bleeding and free food and drinks flowing. Charles Stiles sent mystery diners Rob and Jenny in as a customer and a waitress. As aired, one waiter is an asset while manager Danny and bartender Wayne have turned the room into a frat house, plying women with free shots, running a beer bong they call The Worm, and loading a birthday sundae with so many sparklers it nearly sets the place alight, Danny wearing George's Napoleon hat all the while. The confrontation has George firing both. Stiles closes with revenue recovered and only George permitted the hat. Given the scripting claims that later dogged Mystery Diners, this party-gone-wrong sting is best framed as broadcast rather than as confirmed fact.
After the cameras left
George's On Sunset has since closed, in the ordinary way and on the owner's own terms. The New American bistro at 1549 Sunset Drive shut after owner Georges-Eric Farge capped twenty-five years running restaurants in Miami, per a Miami Herald account and a Yelp closure banner in our 2026 check. That is a career winding down rather than a business felled by a hidden-camera night years earlier. The show filmed one loud service; it did not decide this restaurant's fate.
