What happened on the show
Gary Big Strauss and Tony Little D'Alessandro had heard that employees were illegally selling alcohol at their Chicago restaurant, which held no liquor license but let customers bring their own. Charles Stiles sent mystery diners Siera and Destiney in as a food runner and a customer. As aired, manager Gregg charges an unauthorized corkage fee on outside bottles and runs a side liquor business with a friend posing as staff, a scheme that nearly draws a passing police car. The confrontation has the owners firing Gregg and barring the friend, who drives off before Tony can reach him. Stiles closes with the illegal alcohol gone. Because Mystery Diners was later accused of staging its confrontations, this bring-your-own sting is best framed as broadcast rather than as independently verified.
After the cameras left
Big and Little's did not close so much as relocate. The original River North location shows a Yelp closure banner, but the fish and taco brand continues under the same name at 5700 South Cicero Avenue, on its own site in our 2026 pass, at medium confidence given the location shuffle. That is an ordinary move rather than a rescue, and we track it as relocated and still running. The unlicensed-liquor drama the cameras filmed had no bearing on where the business eventually planted itself.
