What happened on the show

Danny Alberga was fielding complaints about the delivery drivers at his Chicago cafe, and Charles Stiles ran the sting differently for once, not in the restaurant but out in the drivers' cars and at the diners' own homes. With mystery diner Mark driving and Brian, David and Adriana receiving orders, the cameras, as aired, catch one driver running personal errands and taking smoke breaks between drops, while the other charges extra fees, eats the food, insults customers who reject botched orders, and drives with open road rage. The confrontation has Danny warning the first driver and firing the second, who storms off yelling at a passing car. Because Mystery Diners was later accused of scripting these reveals, this off-site delivery sting, novel format and all, is best framed as broadcast rather than as documented event.

Bella Luna has since closed, on a long timeline and for a plain reason. The River North cafe at 1 East Superior Street, open since 1988, closed in 2022 after the owner lost the lease past the thirty-year mark, stated on the business's own site in our 2026 pass. Losing a lease after three decades is ordinary lifecycle, not the aftermath of a delivery sting years earlier. A long-running room reached the end of its run, which is how most of these stories actually close.
