What happened on the show
Dean Marrazzo had rebuilt an old mill with his own hands into a genuinely beautiful restaurant, which was exactly what worried Ramsay: a place this handsome should not have been empty. It was, because Dean had no restaurant background, a short fuse, and a chef, Mike, who admitted he had lost his passion. The food told the story. Ramsay called the risotto something that pureed to nothing in the mouth, said his young daughter could cook better than the papillote, and begged not to eat more of the funnel-molded chopped salad. Sitting with Dean and his wife Barbara, Ramsay pried loose the number Dean had been hiding from her: half a million dollars in debt. Dean fought back against every critique, and much of the hour became a contest of wills, Ramsay trying to get a proud, untrained owner to hear that his standards, not his customers, were the problem.
After the cameras left
The Olde Stone Mill closed in 2009, two years after airing, but Dean's handsome building kept working. The 2 Scarsdale Road site reopened as the Italian spot DiNapoli's Stone Mill, then rebranded again, operating as The Wicked Wolf North as of late 2022. The debt sank the restaurant; the mill Dean built outlived it, a fittingly odd epilogue for a place whose looks were never the trouble.
