What happened on the show

Tina did most of the work at Peter's, but her brother Peter got the credit, the name over the door, and the Mercedes he showed up in an hour late to collect Gordon from the train station. That gap between effort and ego framed the whole visit. Peter cheerfully admitted he would rather buy a suit than a stove, and a sous chef joked he seemed to be auditioning for a Goodfellas sequel, a bit Peter promptly confirmed by quoting the film to diners. Behind the swagger the Long Island Italian spot was drowning: three broken ovens, a busted broiler, unpaid bills, and creditor phone calls Peter kept fielding. Tina, cracking under the load, said she would sooner sell than lose everything. Ramsay found the kitchen barely functional and the food dated, then pushed Peter to invest in the business instead of his own image. A later revisit returned to fire the head chef and sous chef, a sign the underlying dysfunction never fully cleared.

After the cameras left

Peter's did not last. Within about a year of the 2007 broadcast the Babylon restaurant had closed, and the Post Office Cafe next door, in business since 1978, eventually expanded into the vacated space at 132 West Main Street. Later coverage floated an owner's alleged mob ties as a contributing factor, though that claim stayed unverified, and a stray 2026 rumor of a Peter's revival in New York or South Florida never firmed up into anything. What is solid is the closure itself and the neighbor that grew into the room.
