What happened on the show
A beige color scheme and a damage waiver at check-in put Ramsay off before he had even seen a room at Meson de Mesilla, a hotel in Las Cruces, New Mexico that had inexplicably been styled after Tuscany. The food underwhelmed, and owner Cali Szczawinski spent dinner service performing Cher-style karaoke instead of managing. The pool sat dirty and unused. After firing her general manager, Cali asked Ramsay for help, and his team redecorated every room, renovated the pool area, and rebuilt the menu around a New Mexico identity that actually suited the place. When she started to waver on the plan, Ramsay threatened to undo the pool work and walk out, and he asked her to stop singing and concentrate on running the hotel. She committed to the changes and saw business pick up.
After the cameras left
The turnaround stuck, though under a new name and new owners. The property was sold and rebranded as Hacienda de Mesilla in 2017, and as of our latest verification pass it operates as an active boutique inn with a grille and cantina in historic Old Mesilla, near Las Cruces. The official site is live, takes direct bookings, and runs seasonal events. The current site does not itself state the old Meson de Mesilla name, but independent tourism and review listings line up consistently behind the lineage. This is one of the batch's clearer survivals: same building, a better-fitting identity.
