What happened on the show
A retro-arcade bar was falling apart under an owner who had an excuse for everything. At Throwbacks in Sanford, Florida, the nostalgic arcade concept was buried under disrepair and an owner unwilling to take responsibility, and Taffer's rescue worked to force accountability while restoring a room with genuine appeal. He reopened the venue as Murphy's Arcade Bar and Pizza, a rebrand carrying a touching backstory: the name honored the owner's dog, Murphy, who had been struck by a car and lost a leg. The bet was that a sharper concept, a working arcade and an owner finally owning his mistakes could turn a crumbling retro bar into a going concern, with the tribute to Murphy woven into the room's new identity.
After the cameras left
Throwbacks is still operating, under the rescue name. It continues as Murphy's Arcade at Throwbacks at 418 Sanford Avenue in Sanford, under owner Robbie Kennerney, who purchased the bar in 2019, which puts the status at high confidence as a renamed survivor. The retro-arcade bar survived its rescue and kept the Murphy's identity, tribute dog and all, landing this one firmly among the survivors of the eighth season, a Florida room that traded disrepair and excuses for a working arcade-bar concept that stuck.
