What happened on the show
A hometown hero of a desert town was trying to rescue his roller-rink bar from an unruly staff and management too soft to enforce anything. At The Wheel House Bar in Hemet, Taffer had to stiffen a pushover authority structure that had let the crew run loose, and for the recon he brought in AfterBuzz TV founder Keven Undergaro. The rescue worked to hand a well-liked owner the backbone and systems to actually run his room. Taffer reopened the venue as Derby's Bar and Grill, a rebrand that leaned into the roller-derby theme and gave the bar a distinctive identity, betting that a local favorite, armed with real management and a sharper concept, could turn a loosely run room into a going concern in his desert hometown.
After the cameras left
Derby's Bar and Grill stuck and is still operating. The rescue rebrand held, with the room reopening in April 2016 and its official site currently live at 2860 West Florida Avenue, which puts the open call at high confidence. The hometown hero's roller-rink bar survived its unruly staff and kept the Derby's identity Taffer gave it, landing this one firmly among the renamed survivors, a clean outcome in a stretch of the catalog with plenty of murkier ones.
