What happened on the show
A former ballplayer turned bar owner wanted his Yorba Linda dive dragged into the present, though not without a fight. Taffer met real opposition at The Canyon Inn, where the owner pushed back against the very changes he had asked for, and the episode ended up breaking two of the show's usual molds along the way: it was the first rescue to feature neither a stress test nor a soft opening. Taffer reworked the room and reopened it as The Canyon Saloon, a sharper spin on the old name aimed at modernizing a tired space without erasing its history. Then came the twist that made this one memorable, as the bar became only the second in the series to reject its rebrand in the epilogue, the owner swapping the Canyon Saloon sign back to the Canyon Inn the moment the crew packed up, deciding that whatever Taffer had changed inside, the name over the door was staying exactly as his regulars had always known it.
After the cameras left
Keeping the old name did not doom it. The bar still operates as the Canyon Inn, billing itself as Yorba Linda's local sports bar and grill, and remains open despite a serious setback: California's Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control suspended its license for thirty-five days, through July 24, 2025, after a fatality tied to serving alcohol to a minor. The suspension is a real black mark, but the business absorbed it and stayed open, landing this one firmly in the survivor column.
