barBar Rescue · Season 3, Episode 11 · Aired July 7, 2013
Sand Dollar
Las Vegas, Nevada
Good outcome here: the business is still trading today.
What happened after
Live-music bar at 3355 Spring Mountain Rd, 'Live Music & Cocktails Since 1976' -- this is the Bar Rescue location, open 7 days/week 4pm-4am. (Note: a separate, unrelated 'Sand Dollar Downtown' venue at the Plaza Hotel & Casino permanently closed Dec 14 2025 -- not this entity.)
What happened on the show
A Las Vegas bar owner spent much of his rescue trying to pick up Nicole, leaving Taffer to manage both a running flirtation and a genuinely failing business. Beyond the awkwardness on camera, Sand Dollar needed real structural fixes: the owner's partner had to be pushed into an actual management role, the venue needed a new musical direction to pull a crowd, and the rules on its bar games needed loosening to keep patrons in their seats. Taffer reworked the room toward the live-music identity the space was built for and, per the episode, reopened it under a new name, Bar 702, a nod to the local area code. The rescue balanced the personal distraction against the operational reality, betting that a proper manager, a clearer sound and a smarter approach to its gaming could turn a drifting Spring Mountain Road bar back into the music room it had the bones to be.
After the cameras left
The Sand Dollar name is the one that survived, and it is thriving. The live-music bar at 3355 Spring Mountain Road bills itself around cocktails and music since 1976 and runs seven days a week from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m., with an Instagram following near 19,000 consistent with a busy room. A separate, unrelated Sand Dollar Downtown at the Plaza closed in December 2025, but that is not this venue. The episode itself no longer airs in reruns because of a legal dispute between the Taffers and the venue's prior operator. Confidence is high.
