What happened on the show
An owner's heavy drinking and loud antics were dragging his bar toward ruin, so Taffer went around him. At O'Banion's Bar and Grill in Bellevue, Nebraska, the fix required getting the owner's brother and a close friend, who between them held a majority stake, to overrule the man causing the damage, and two of the three co-owners sat with Taffer to watch the recon. This episode marked a first for the series, the first time Taffer performed what he called a hostile takeover, stripping authority from an owner too far gone to steer his own business. He reopened the room as Sorties Tavern, a rebrand meant to give the partners a fresh identity to rally behind once the drinking owner was sidelined, betting that the sober majority could hold the place together where the founder's antics had nearly torn it down.
After the cameras left
Sorties Tavern stuck and is still operating, now under new ownership acquired in 2016. Facebook and Yelp confirm service continuing through late 2025 at 2871 Capehart Road, putting the open call at high confidence, though an October 2025 Yelp review notes the kitchen has scaled back, with a customer told that food was no longer served in-house. The Bar Rescue name endured through a change of hands, landing this one in the renamed-and-surviving column even as its food offering has thinned.
