BBQ restaurant at 33150 Coldwater Rd; renamed 'Chilleen's on 17' after Bar Rescue. Family-owned since 2003; after the 2013 episode, 'Aleah' (featured as the owner's daughter on the show) purchased the restaurant to save it from bankruptcy. Still operating.
What happened on the show
In the Arizona desert, Taffer found a family-owned bar creating genuine health hazards for its own customers, and the spectacle behind them made for some of the wilder footage the show has produced. At Kid Chilleen's Badass BBQ, the family drank on the job and let running motorcycles, and even horses, come inside the building, a free-for-all that was as unsanitary as it was chaotic. The rescue had to rein in a culture where the people running the place treated it as their personal clubhouse, health code be damned, before that recklessness cost them the business entirely. Taffer worked to sober up the operation and impose the basic standards a food-serving room requires, then reopened the BBQ spot as Chilleen's on 17, a cleaner identity nodding to its location just off Interstate 17. The bet was that a family this attached to the place could be pushed to run it responsibly, trading the horses-indoors chaos for something a paying customer could actually enjoy.
After the cameras left
Chilleen's on 17 is still open, and the story behind its survival is unusually warm. The family-owned restaurant at 33150 Coldwater Road, in business since 2003, was rescued from bankruptcy after the 2013 episode when Aleah, featured as the owner's daughter on the show, bought the place herself. It now runs an active Facebook page with more than 8,000 likes, a 4.0 Yelp rating across 550-plus reviews updated into June 2026, and a top-two TripAdvisor ranking in Black Canyon City.
