What happened on the show
Hank took over a florist his father had built, and under him it had bled money without pause. The shop was a cluttered storefront with no inventory system, a delivery operation that ran inefficiently, flowers priced below what they were worth, and a scattering of unrelated gifts filling the shelves. Marcus offered $100,000 for a quarter of the company. Over the week he poured more than $150,000 into refreshing the tired store and replacing the worn out delivery vans, and he moved the general manager, Marina, out of her role. The regrown shop reopened with a new layout, sales and staff morale both lifted, and Marina thrived once she was reassigned to lead the retail floor. Then Hank blew it up. He backed out of the handshake, insisting Marcus had put nothing into the business even as the renovations sat in plain view. Marcus, disgusted by the owner's willful blindness and petulance, walked out promising he would get his money back. It was an early lesson that on this show the owner, not the storefront, was usually the hardest thing to fix.
After the cameras left
Jacob Maarse Florists is still standing, and still in the family's hands. The shop has been selling flowers since 1966 and continues to trade from its longtime address on East Green Street in Pasadena, with current posted hours and a customer review as recent as February 2026 confirming it is open for business. As for the money Marcus was owed, the show itself supplied the epilogue. In a later episode he mentioned that Hank's mother had quietly repaid the investment after the on air fallout. So the relationship ended badly, but the business Hank nearly ran into the ground outlived the drama and remains a Pasadena fixture. Confirmed operating as of 2026.
