What happened on the show

The New Rochelle stakeout was the episode where Degel shut a business down mid visit. Red Room was a mother's bar and lounge, and the hidden cameras were trained on what the episode framed as a massive theft eating the place alive. As aired, the surveillance existed to document exactly what was happening to the money and product when no one thought they were being watched, and what the cameras showed was serious enough that Degel moved to close the room rather than merely fix it. His confrontation used that footage to force an unavoidable reckoning. The episode leaned hard into the show's sting premise, where the hidden camera is the actual mechanism for exposing internal theft, and where the findings can be dire enough that shutting the doors becomes the only responsible call.

After the cameras left

Red Room has closed. Yellow Pages lists the venue as closed, and the business's own Facebook page posted in August 2020 that it was its last week at the Red Room, for the Main Street address in New Rochelle. The self reported farewell makes this a high confidence closure. Given that the stakeout itself led Degel to shut the room down mid episode, the eventual permanent closure fit a business that was already in serious trouble.
