What happened on the show

Frozen and reheated, not fresh, was the problem Robert Irvine inherited at Meglio's, a Bridgeton restaurant coasting on old family recipes pulled straight from the freezer. Little on the plate started as a raw ingredient, so the fix centered on the kitchen. Irvine retrained the staff to cook from scratch and slimmed the menu down to fewer dishes that could actually be prepared fresh, the kind of focus the show favors over sprawling lists nobody executes well. The dining room got its own attention from the design and build team, all inside the format's fixed limits of two days and roughly ten thousand dollars. The bet was simple: a smaller, honest menu cooked properly would beat a long one faked from the freezer. Whether the owners kept faith with that after the cameras left was the open question the visit could not answer.

After the cameras left

The reversion undid the rescue. Operating as an Italian bar and grill, Meglio's closed and its location went up for lease after the owner rolled back the menu changes Irvine had installed. The end came in 2015. It is a familiar arc on this show, an owner who reverts to old habits once the crew departs, and here it played out to the predictable conclusion. We hold the record at high confidence for the closure itself.
