What happened on the show
Kalico Kitchen in Douglas, Michigan, owned by Catherine Wilt, landed a sixth season episode built on the program's standard offer of 48 hours and a capped remodeling fund. No episode synopsis survives on Wikipedia, so what Irvine encountered inside is not reconstructed here. The ending came hard and fast. In December 2013 the bank took the property in foreclosure, and the Allegan County Health Department had also cited violations, a double blow reported by the Holland Sentinel, an independent local paper. For a restaurant that got the full televised intervention, losing the building to the bank within roughly a year marks it among the season's harder failures, one where financial and regulatory pressure closed in faster than any menu or dining room fix could hold them back.
After the cameras left
Kalico Kitchen closed in December 2013 when the bank took the property in foreclosure, and the Allegan County Health Department had also cited violations. The Holland Sentinel, an independent local Michigan paper, covered the closing, which puts it at high confidence. Owner Catherine Wilt's Douglas restaurant could not survive the combination of financial and health pressures that closed in on it within months of the episode, and the Ferry Street location went dark.
