What happened on the show
Gordon Ramsay walked into Le Deck, a waterfront seafood spot in Capbreton on France's southwest coast, to find head chef Steve and the staff grilling themselves a sirloin dinner from the restaurant's own supplies. He read it as the crew taking advantage of owners Tim and Debbie, but Tim quickly emerged as a bigger fault line: he meddled in service, would not let Steve build his own menu, and handled the business side carelessly. Ramsay had his own knocks for Steve too, a thin grasp of local ingredients and an inability to speak French in a French town. A trip to the local seafood market turned things around, and the kitchen produced good plates, only for Tim to call the staff lazy and threaten to sack them anyway. The reopening night still went well. Ramsay's parting message to Tim was blunt: stay out of the kitchen and Le Deck could work. No revisit made the episode, but a closing caption reported the restaurant still doing well, with Steve gone back to the mountain resort he came from and sous-chef Stuey stepping up to run the kitchen.
