What happened on the show
Demetri Georgakopoulos thought his Seattle restaurant's staff had gotten carried away with ghost stories and unofficial haunted tours of the attic above the dining room. Charles Stiles sent mystery diners John, Lisa and Hollie in as a waiter, a psychic and a customer. As aired, the culprits are a waiter and a busboy pulling pranks on staff and guests, the busboy locking a cook in the walk-in freezer and trapping two diners in the attic. The confrontation has Demetri firing both pranksters. In a tongue-in-cheek sign-off characteristic of this episode, the narration jokes that the restaurant had to close for the night over runaway paranormal activity. Given the scripting claims that later dogged Mystery Diners, this haunted-attic sting, gag ending and all, is best framed as broadcast rather than as independently confirmed.
After the cameras left
After the episode, Taverna Mazi drops out of the verifiable record. We could find address and phone details but no dated open or closed confirmation for the Seattle spot at 3426 Northeast 55th Street in our 2026 pass despite repeated attempts, so we hold it at last confirmed rather than guess. The episode's joke about closing for paranormal reasons was television, not a real shutdown, and we do not treat it as one. The honest status here is simply unconfirmed either way.
