What happened on the show
Losing thousands in unaccounted alcohol and hearing whispers of after-hours parties, Kim Brennan called Charles Stiles in on her Cave Creek diner and bar. The plan, as the episode lays it out, was for mystery diners Shellene, Bradley and Chris to work and drink their way toward an invitation to the bash. The surveillance points straight at bartender Claire, who drinks on shift, skims cash meant for the register, and throws a wild after-hours party once the doors are locked. Kim storms back in to clear the room and fire her, Claire insisting in her exit interview that she was set up. Stiles wraps with the alcohol accounted for and revenue restored. As ever with this series, the beats are presented as aired, a distinction that matters more than usual here given the scripting allegations that later shadowed Mystery Diners.
