What happened on the show
Rashad and Kiauna Floyd promoted their Portland Italian restaurant with digital videos, and their trouble, as the episode frames it, was two waiters whose local fame had gone to their heads. Charles Stiles sent a single mystery diner, Amber, in as a waitress. As aired, the waiters keep pausing to show off their videos to guests instead of working, and a manager feeds their egos by letting them leave in the middle of a shift to shoot an unauthorized music video of their own. The confrontation has the owners firing the manager and putting the two waiters on probation, later letting them keep performing once their actual work is done. Given the scripting claims that later dogged Mystery Diners, this local-celebrity sting is best framed as broadcast rather than as verified.
After the cameras left
Amalfi's is still open, a long-running Portland institution the episode never threatened. The Italian restaurant, established in 1959, was still operating at 4703 Northeast Fremont Street in our 2026 pass, with at least bar service confirmed. A room more than sixty years old was never the fragile business a sting implies. It kept running on its history and its regulars, not on anything a camera crew did in one night, which is the quiet truth behind this survivor. A stray same-named closure elsewhere was a different business entirely.
