What happened on the show
Joe Nagy met Ramsay on his farm, boasting that he had trained with old-school Europeans and that his own animals supplied Mill Street Bistro, both claims that fell apart on inspection. Nagy had opened the Norwalk, Ohio restaurant after losing a food-sales job, with no restaurant experience and, by Ramsay's measure, an ego second only to Amy of Amy's Baking Company. He overcharged for unappetizing food, a catch of the day that was days old and an elk quesadilla among them, kept things frozen that never should be, and berated his staff in front of customers, driving diners away. During the first lunch he mocked Ramsay behind his back with a bad impression of his Scottish accent. Across the two-part episode Nagy swung between promising to change and sliding right back into his old ways, until a blowup during dinner service ended with Ramsay ejecting him from his own kitchen.
After the cameras left
Mill Street Bistro was rebranded Maple City Tavern around the production, and that business closed in 2016. The building later sold for 140,000 dollars and now operates as Red Shamrock Ltd, an unrelated Irish-influenced restaurant that was well reviewed as of 2025. Joe Nagy's legendary stubbornness made for unforgettable television, but no amount of ego could keep the doors open, and the Norwalk corner belongs to an entirely different restaurant now.
