What happened on the show
Ramsay joked that he chipped a tooth on cartilage hidden in the duck rillette, which set the tone for Le Bistro and its owner, British chef Andy Trousdale. Andy had cooked in some of the world's best kitchens, moved to Lighthouse Point, Florida with his wife Elin, and grown so defensive that he bristled the moment Ramsay smiled. His food was stuck in the eighties, the lamb curry roll rubbery and out of place in Florida, and his ego ran the whole room: only one waiter was allowed to take orders, his sous chef was forbidden to cook, and when a dish came back he told the customer to pick something else rather than remake it. Ramsay handed out comment cards and read Andy the tally: food a three out of ten, and 78 percent of diners saying they would not return. Andy insisted Ramsay did not intimidate him, then stood in front of his staff berating himself.
After the cameras left
Against the odds, Le Bistro made it. As of our latest verification pass the Lighthouse Point restaurant at 4626 North Federal Highway was still operating, nearly fifteen years after the episode and through the pandemic, with Andy and Elin Trousdale still at the helm. For an owner whose comment cards had 78 percent of diners swearing off the place, long-term survival counts as a genuine turnaround, whatever the friction Ramsay caught on camera.
