What happened on the show

Told that his daughter Cheryl had designed the wild tropical decor, Ramsay asked how drunk she had been at the time. Flamangos, in Whitehouse Station, was a Hawaiian-themed restaurant that Bill and Adele had come out of retirement in 2006 to open with the 42-year-old Cheryl, who still lived at home because she had not earned money in two years. The theatrics badly outran the cooking. The ahi tuna was so spicy Ramsay called it an embarrassment to tuna, and he spat out the flaming tiki platter after one bite, then held a piece of it to the flame and watched it burn. Bill, elderly and doing all the menial work, wheeled out a noisy trolley for a tableside flaming filet served on a roof tile, garlic butter dribbling down and missing the catch dish entirely. Ramsay was dazzled by the show and unimpressed by the chewy, tough meat under it. Chef Bryan, powerless over the menu, could only agree.

After the cameras left

Renamed The Junction during production, the restaurant closed in 2011. A Yelp listing for a Junction Restaurant and Bar later surfaced at the same 157 Main Street address in Whitehouse Station, but whether that business still operates could not be confirmed here, so it is flagged rather than stated. Either way, the retirement Bill and Adele interrupted to open a flaming-tiki restaurant did not pay off, and the theatrical concept Ramsay found dazzling but hollow did not endure.
