What happened on the show

When CeCe asked whether Ramsay took criticism of his own food well, he shot back that he did not cook shit like that. The owner-chef of Anna Vincenzo's in Boca Raton was self-taught, bankrolled by her successful-pizzeria father, and among the most defensive owners the show had met. Her salmon divino was dry, overcooked, and, Ramsay guessed correctly, frozen, tasting like cardboard and looking, he said, science-lab made; the snapper was mush, the signature pizza soggy and bland. During service CeCe pushed food out fast and full of mistakes, could not absorb a single note, and eventually broke down and quit for the night, leaving her husband Michael to finish in the kitchen. The next day Ramsay had the cooks prepare all 181 items on the menu and spread them out, then walked through which were fresh and which were frozen. More than eighty percent were frozen.

After the cameras left

Anna Vincenzo's did not survive its own broadcast by long. The Boca Raton restaurant, at 1930 Northeast 5th Avenue, closed in April 2010, about a month after the March episode aired. An owner who treated every criticism as a personal attack, running a 181-item menu that was mostly frozen, had almost nothing to build on, and no successor took the name at the address.
